String Change on Epiphone AJ-220S Acoustic Guitar from D’Addario EJ16 to EZ900 Strings:
After playing my Epiphone AJ-220S acoustic guitar for about a week, I decided to replace the strings with much thinner model for less tension, easier on my fingers. I went to local guitar shop to buy the new set of strings. I got no idea what to buy back then and the guitar shop salesman offered me the D’Addario EZ900 85/15 America Bronze extra light gauge .010 strings set because I was looking for a thin set of strings. The original strings installed on my guitar was D’Addario EJ16 Phosphor Bronze light gauge .012 strings set.
I made a video on this string change. In my video, I played the guitar before string replacement to hear the tone with the stock strings. Then, I played again the guitar after string change to compare the tone difference between the two sets of strings. The stock strings were not yet old at that time since I bought the guitar for just about a week ago. The tone definitely had changed after the string replacement. It is a bit thin and much brighter compared before having the original strings installed. The string tension was much less thus it was much softer to play. Overall, I still prefer the tone of the original or stock strings for this Epiphone AJ-220S acoustic guitar.
After this replacement, I did some more string replacement in search for the right strings for my taste. Not to mention, I was in the process of enjoying my new toy.
