Using Android App in Guitar Tuning
Here is my very first video with a guitar in my YouTube channel http://youtube.com/EdwinEGuitar. In this video I used an Android App on my Samsung Galaxy Smartphone in my guitar tuning. This Android App worked pretty well and it served the purpose. I got my guitar in standard tuning quickly and accurately. One thing good about this app is that this Android App is free to download in the Google App store. The only problem with this Android app is that if the surrounding area is noisy then it picks up the noise as well causing inaccurate reading. If this is the case, a clip-on tuner must be used because this type of tuner is picking up the vibration of the guitar on the headstock.
As I mentioned in About Page, I had an old guitar that I purchased long time ago and took with me when I moved to another country. This was that guitar. This was an RJ guitar which I purchased in a shop somewhere in Makati, Philippines.
You can see from the video that all the guitar strings were rusted. I never had a chance to play this guitar for a long time. The set of strings were installed a couple of years ago and never been replaced. I am sad to say that this was almost became a neglected guitar. I had no time to tune nor reconditioned a it for a long time. Unfortunately, after this video guitar tuning tutorial, the bridge of the guitar got broken. It was detached off the guitar body. I uploaded this video below in YouTube on July 2013. The information in this tutorial is still applicable today. The Android app that was used in guitar tuning in this video is called PitchLab and still available for download at Google App Store in the time of writing this article.
That was the last time that this RJ guitar was used. This made me think of buying a brand new guitar. Well, indeed, I started visiting guitar shops and testing various acoustic guitars which fit my requirement. It took me a couple of days to figure out what acoustic guitar that I liked and the price was within my budget. And finally, I was able to choose one. This new guitar will be on my next blog post.
